GDPR still affects us and doesn’t seem to slow down. As of August 1st, 2018 we are getting ‘served’ with a couple new Facebook API changes. What will change while you work in Kontentino?
Unfortunately, the option to restrict the post’s audience based on gender and language will be no more ? This is probably due to Facebook’s intentions to put more focus on global pages (btw, if you manage global page, you should watch this space because we are creating something special for you).
Also, they are limiting age restrictions – you will only be able to set the minimum age – 13,17,18,19 or 21.
You may already be familiar with the changes in restrictions based on age and language – they’d been applied directly to Facebook a few weeks ago – the date August 1st is valid for 3rd party applications – including Kontentino.
What now? Is there a workaround?
1. Global page
The options are limited, but one of them is applying for a global page.
What are those?
It’s Facebook helping us manage social media profiles in multiple countries or for multiple languages.? It’s their structure which allows providing localized content for different countries or regions without having to create multiple pages. There’s one brand name, total fan count, one URL, and insights.
Here’s a simplified structure:
If you want to know more, you can read all about them here.
Also, we have put together a step-by-step tutorial on how to create one.
2. Posts in multiple languages
If you only need to set a language in your post text, try posting in multiple languages.
When posting, just add a translation in a different language and people will see the relevant version based on their language settings and locale. Read more about how it works and how to implement it here. Keep in mind that this only works for the copy text of the post – you don’t have the possibility to edit images – either with link posts or image posts.
Kontentino has got your back in this case as well. You can add other languages in your content plan easily. Read how here.
We hope this helps 🙂 If you have any ‘hacks’ just share them in the comments below!
